Each of the four Fact-Sets™ is drawn from a compelling event in American politics, diplomacy and economics. The Fact-Sets are based on Truman’s options at the close of World War II, a Florida clemency petition, Nixon’s secret negotiations to end the Vietnam war, and the Exxon Valdez oil spill. Tension and drama are inherent in the high stakes subject matter.
The Fact-Sets were developed over six years to ensure both contextual accuracy and historic integrity. Each of the four Fact-Sets contains six participant booklets. The booklets are organized as a series of memorandum, meeting, discussions and seminars. Learners review their memorandums and prepare prior to briefing a chief executive prior to a negotiation. Each Fact-Set contains a variety of goals, perspectives, points of views and possible rational outcomes. At the conclusion of each Fact-Set, the chief executive must issue a decision with a supporting explanation, or two (or more) opponents must reach settlement of a contested issue.
Participants will be familiar with the format of the Fact-Sets. Every corporate manager and executive will be accustomed to reading memorandums, attending meetings and making presentations. The effectiveness of the Fact-Sets stems from this familiarity. Participants do what they do everyday, but in an environment where it is safe to test new skills and new approaches to leadership questions.
Each Fact-Set requires six participants and takes about 90 minutes to complete, in addition to training time. |
